Winch Service Jacksonville FL
Providing inaccurate and incomplete information may cause your winching service to be delayed and become more costly due to bringing the wrong equipment. Here are some questions that Dispatch will ask to properly assist with your Winch Out Services:
Where are you stuck at? Make note of the address, cross streets, nearest highway.
What is your position at that location? Omitting pertinent information in hopes of a lower price will always come back to haunt you. Tell your Dispatcher the truth about the surroundings. Yes, it’s important that they know you are behind the house.
How far are you from a paved surface? Try to provide an estimate in feet how far that the vehicle is from a paved or solid surface. This is easy, just put your back to the end of the vehicle facing the road and count your normal steps to thye road edge. That number times 3 will give you a close estimation of the distance.
How many tires if any, are touching the pavement and which ones?
Why are you stuck? — pulled off the road; slid into a ditch.
What are the conditions? — muddy from the rain, or just lost traction.
If a truck, is it loaded or empty? — extra weight is a factor when winching moving trucks
Will a winch-out be the only service that you will need or will you require tow service after the vehicle is winched out? — If the vehicle is not able to be driven the vehicle may have to be towed.
Is A Winch Out The Same Thing As A Recovery?
Not usually. Typically a winch out is provided when the vehicle needs assistance to get back to a paved or solid surface from a reasonably accessible location. Recovery is typically when the vehicle is not easily accessed and cannot be extracted by simply pulling it to a paved or solid surface with the winch cable. An example of a recovery would be that the vehicle has overturned and has to be up-righted before it can be winched out or it has slid down a steep embankment. A recovery will also be more expensive since more time, special equipment, tools, and a different tow truck may have to be used.
If you are unsure of what type of service you need, provide as much general information as possible for the Dispatch Service Coordinator to assist to accurately determine your needs. If you feel that you are in immediate danger or unsure of your surroundings, dial 911 immediately.
